Inner wheel club of
Saldanha

Our Story
The Inner Wheel Club of Saldanha was established on the 30th of July 1994 at a function held at Langebaan Lodge and attended by the Supporting Saldanha Rotary members and members of Inner Wheel District 935.
The Saldanha Bay District is located approximately 140km north of Cape Town, in the Western Cape Province of the Republic of South Africa, and covers a total area of 2,015 square kilometres (778 sq mi) which includes the West Coast Peninsula (also known as the Vredenburg Peninsula) and stretches southeast to include the West Coast National Park and the area around Hopefield. It abuts on the Bergrivier Municipality to the north and the Swartland Municipality to the east and south.
What We Do
Stimulation boxes for Autistic children
Toys can be used to build relationships, develop social skills, encourage communication and develop both gross and fine motor skills.
Support for Huis Hadassa
This project is run by Siyabonga Care Village, for abused children; we provide winter pyjamas, scarves and beanies for children in their care.
CARE FOR THE CARER
We spend time with care workers from various organisations to show our appreciation for the work that they do in challenging circumstances.
67 minutes of service
To commemorate Mandela Day: handing out sandwiches and juice to the outpatients of the clinics and hospitals.
Our Mission & Approach
Fundraising
Fundraising takes the form of an annual lunch, attended by other Inner Wheel clubs from the District together with friends and supporters of our club.
We are also supported with some financial donations from the public and where possible we source donations and sponsorships of items for distribution to the needy.
All funds raised go towards the various projects we undertake each year.
Members
Each member brings a unique skill set to the club; from hands-on crafts, finance, administration and project leadership. Having some members with more than 25 years of experience in both the club and District 935 environment, they have provided a great deal of knowledge and guidance to all members of our club.
Our Latest Club News
Spreading the love!
March 25 and 26th, 2025 The Love Quilt Project (TLQP) representative Jenni Knittig (née Woodend) and members of the Inner Wheel Club of Saldanha delivered a total of 194 quilts. 12 love quilts were given to foster children in Langebaan, and 69 to children in Mooresburg. The remaining quilts were distributed to foster children throughout the Western Cape.
The Love Quilt Project is a non-for-profit organization established in 2014 to provide educational and emotional support to at-risk children living in foster care in South Africa and the United States. Art squares containing messages of compassion, kindness, and love for children facing the challenges of foster care are created by school children. These messages of love are stitched into beautiful handmade quilts by volunteer quilters. The quilts are given to foster children along with a monetary donation to be used for educational services.
