Formula Delivery for
House of Tembiso

Blessings for Babies

On 4th October Maureen and Liz, members of the Inner Wheel Club of Durbanville, visited the House of Thembiso to deliver tins of Nan baby formula.

House of Thembiso is a Place of Safety or Halfway Home for babies. One of the carers kindly allowed us to enter the premises. Maureen and Liz say that the experience to visit there was both, incredible and humbling. The facility is immaculately clean, the toys are stimulating and the carers are very loving and competent.

The lady, who runs the place, told them about the remarkable work that they do. Some babies join the House of Thembiso shortly after birth, by the age of three years they are all placed in their forever homes.

The social worker at the house is in close contact with a social worker in Norway. After they have been ‘matched’, prospective parents from there visit the children. They stay for two months getting to know their prospective baby and complete the paperwork. They return to take their new child home.

It is a privilege for the Inner Wheel of Durbanville to support this worthwhile cause.

More About House of Thembiso
Thembiso was started in February 2007 by Doxa Deo Langeberg to make a difference in the lives of children with special needs.

This venture falls under the guidance of the uMephi organisation (The Executive Welfare Council of the AFM of SA). uMephi has been operating in South Africa for 70 years and runs or supports over 70 projects ranging from Special Needs Homes for babies and children to Community Foster Care Homes for orphans.

The house itself is provided by uMephi while the monthly running expenses and all other needs including salaries and improvements to the property are met from various sources including regular and once off donations (in cash, kind and services) from church members and other people in the community as well as from companies.
