Inner Wheel Club of Tafelberg Supports Victoria Hospital’s Clinical Forensic Medicine Department
The Inner Wheel Club of Tafelberg recently packaged another donation of comfort boxes for the Clinical Forensic Medicine Department at Victoria Hospital in Cape Town, continuing our dedicated efforts to support survivors of sexual and gender-based violence.
The Clinical Forensic Medicine Department plays a critical role in the immediate response to sexual assault and domestic violence cases. Staffed by trained doctors and nurses, the department provides medical examinations, collects forensic evidence for legal proceedings, and offers compassionate support to survivors. The team works closely with SAPS, social workers, and psychological services to ensure a holistic approach to care — prioritising both the physical and emotional well-being of each individual.
The comfort boxes, carefully assembled by members of the Inner Wheel Club, include toiletries, sanitary pads, clean underwear, and a small high glucose sweet. These items are offered to survivors following their forensic examination and help restore a sense of dignity during an extremely traumatic time
